Poverty in Afghanistan: How Food Aid is Providing Relief to Families in Need

In August, thanks to your generosity, we provided food packets to 200 Afghan families in collaboration with IOC. The packages contained essential staples like rice, flour, oil, and beans, along with hygiene products such as soap. This effort supported 1,400 individuals in Herat, Afghanistan.

The poverty in Afghanistan has deepened due to decades of war, political instability, and economic collapse. Over 20 million Afghans now live below the poverty line, according to the World Bank. The situation worsened when the COVID-19 pandemic overwhelmed the fragile healthcare system, leading to widespread job losses and economic decline.

Afghanistan Economic Crisis: The Growing Need for Food Aid

Most impoverished Afghans are day laborers, relying on daily wages to feed their families. However, job losses and inflation have pushed more people into extreme poverty. The Afghanistan economic crisis has led to food shortages, making international aid crucial for survival.
