Moms Against Poverty brought warmth and joy to East San Jose this spring with our Mother’s Day Blanket Giveaway 2025, hosted at Katherine R. Smith Elementary School. This heartwarming event allowed us to connect with a vibrant and resilient community, celebrating the incredible mothers and grandmothers who do so much every day.

We donated 150 cozy blankets as part of our mission to spread comfort, compassion, and care. But these weren’t just any blankets—they were special, hand-woven with love. On a sunny Friday before Mother’s Day, students and volunteers came together to help knit blankets, pouring their energy into every loop and stitch. When the mothers arrived, their children proudly presented the blankets to them, wrapping them not only in fabric but in gratitude.

The celebration didn’t stop there.

Moms Against Poverty brought food to share, turning the giveaway into a festive, family-friendly event. From snacks to smiles, every detail was designed to honor moms and caregivers with the warmth they give year-round.

Principal Cesar Gaytan of Katherine R. Smith Elementary expressed heartfelt thanks for what this Mother’s Day Blanket Giveaway 2025 meant to his school. “We serve a very vibrant community,” he said. “At the same time, our families face significant challenges. Your generosity brings hope, joy, and food when it’s needed most. We’ve been able to serve more than 100 families with your help, and thanks to you, every child in our school received a toy during the holidays.”

Moms Against Poverty believes that small acts of love create ripples of impact. With every blanket, every bite shared, and every family touched, we see how kindness lifts entire communities. This giveaway reminded us why we do this work—because mothers matter, and showing them they’re seen and appreciated makes a world of difference.

We’re incredibly grateful to Principal Gaytan, the staff at Katherine R. Smith Elementary, and every family who joined us. You inspire us to keep going.
