Long before the pandemic swept across the United States, Iran was one of the first epicenters of COVID-19. Since February 2020, nearly 50,000 Iranians lost their lives, with tens of thousands of new cases emerging daily. Even before the crisis, Iran’s healthcare system was already under immense strain, with hospitals lacking critical medical equipment to treat patients.
Thanks to humanitarian aid in Iran, provided by Moms Against Poverty and generous donors, we were able to step in and deliver life-saving resources to frontline healthcare workers and hospitals in desperate need. Over the course of 2020, we provided:
Medical Equipment for 30 Hospitals:
Personal Protective Equipment for Healthcare Workers:
Hygiene Kits for At-Risk Communities:
While COVID-19 devastated Iran’s healthcare system, another crisis emerged—rampant hunger and starvation caused by economic decline and unemployment. No child deserves to go hungry, which is why Moms Against Poverty expanded our hunger relief efforts to support struggling families.
While COVID-19 relief efforts in Iran remained a priority in 2020, we continued investing in long-term education programs to uplift communities. This year, we:
Expanded Education & Orphan Care:
Emergency Relief & Supplies:
While we have made significant progress, the situation in Iran remains critical. As one of the only U.S.-based nonprofits with a dedicated relief team in Iran, we need your support to continue providing humanitarian aid to those suffering from the COVID-19 and hunger crises.
