Food Assistance for Orphaned Children in Nepal: How We’re Providing Relief

XFacebookLinkedIn

Imagine living in a country where one in four people survive on less than fifty cents a day, where three percent of children die before the age of five, and where food insecurity and malnutrition threaten the future of an entire generation.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, with high rates of disease, malnutrition, and lack of educational access. The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened these struggles—especially for children. With tourism as Nepal’s largest industry, the economic collapse caused by travel restrictions has left thousands of families without jobs, savings, or a safety net.

Hunger Relief in Nepal: How Moms Against Poverty Is Taking Action

To combat this crisis, Moms Against Poverty, in collaboration with Sunsar Maya, is providing food assistance for orphaned children in Nepal and low-income families. Each month, we distribute:

  • Soap and hygiene kits to prevent the spread of disease
  • Two weeks’ worth of rice, lentils, and noodles to struggling families
  • Targeted aid to families identified by local government officials

Through two centers in Jorpati and Mahalaxmi, Moms Against Poverty ensures that children in extreme poverty receive the nourishment they need to survive and thrive.

Education Programs for Poor Children in Nepal: Building a Path Out of Poverty

Beyond food assistance, Moms Against Poverty is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Our Nepal centers provide:

  • Regular literacy and teaching classes for children and adults
  • Teacher mentorship programs to expand long-term impact
  • Vocational training to empower Nepalese youth with skills for the future

By investing in education, we empower children to build better lives for themselves and their communities.
