Hygiene Program in the U.S.

Hygiene is instrumental to maintaining health and preventing disease. Homeless children or children living in impoverished homes often face not only the health consequences but also the embarrassment which lies around lack of hygiene.

Here in the U.S impoverished children often have to face the humiliation from lack of hygiene and attending school wearing dirty and odorous clothes. These students develop low self-esteem and frequently skip school to avoid constant embarrassment, and as a result fall into a cycle of academic failure with no hope to avoid their current conditions.

MAP is partnering with schools to remedy this situation. MAP purchases washer and dryers for each school, which is placed in a discrete location and enables children to do laundry as needed. Additionally, we provide hygiene products for these children so that they can attend school in a dignified manner.
