Summary of 2016 Accomplishments

Moms Against Poverty’s mission is to nurture and educate impoverished children so they can reach their full potential and one day lead within their own communities. By addressing basic needs such as food, shelter, and orphan care, we create opportunities for long-term success through education and vocational training.

Our Impact in the United States

  • Expanded the Nutrition Outreach Program to Half Moon Bay, Oakland, and Modena in California, as well as Sterling, Virginia.
    • This program provides nutritious food to hundreds of children living in poverty.
  • Supported the Mentor Program at Blind Children’s Learning Center in Santa Ana, CA.
  • Funded an after-school science program at Bryant Center in San Francisco, CA.
  • Distributed food and toys to impoverished children during the holiday season through our Holiday Helping Hand Program.

Our Impact in Iran

  • Completed the construction of three new schools in Azerbaijan, Sistan & Baluchestan, and Kurdistan.
  • Established nearly 30 preschool centers (Roosta Mahds) in underprivileged and remote villages.
  • Fully renovated the Fatemeh Zahra Girls Orphanage in Karaj, including new windows and a bathroom.
  • Built a library at a school in Khalkal, Ardebil.
  • Purchased neonatal care machines for Mahdieh Hospital in South Tehran.
  • Expanded vocational and therapy centers for orphaned and special-needs children in Kerman.
  • Provided health insurance and therapy services for children at Farkhondeh Center (Tehran) and Samieh Center (Kerman).
  • Continued vocational training programs at our Cultural Center in Bushehr.
